　　報(bào)告內(nèi)容：Machine learning points to the set of mathematical/computational / statistical techniques to turn observed data into useful, 'smart' predictions. This short lecture series provides an overview of the field, essentially its key principles and its application in different areas. Principles behind supervised-, unsupervised-, online learning and others are given also. The course culminates in a number of elegant, historical proofs substantiating the qualitative discussions. The course also provides starting points for using machine learning in new/your application areas.

　　報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介：Kristiaan Pelckmans博士，瑞典Uppsala大學(xué)信息技術(shù)系副教授研究員。Pelckmans博士在比利時(shí)天主教魯汶大學(xué)工程系獲博士學(xué)位，現(xiàn)主要從事機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)中算法的理論和實(shí)際應(yīng)用研究。他將機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)應(yīng)用到了眾多不同的科技領(lǐng)域：控制工程、生物信息、醫(yī)藥、物理（電子顯微鏡）、宇宙學(xué)以及神經(jīng)科學(xué)等。在國(guó)際知名雜志上發(fā)表了大量論文，僅去年的文章引用率已超過(guò)200次。近年來(lái)，機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)的應(yīng)用促進(jìn)了眾多領(lǐng)域的發(fā)展，例如人工智能領(lǐng)域取得了突破性的進(jìn)展，如自動(dòng)駕駛汽車(chē)、語(yǔ)音識(shí)別、Google公司的AlphaGo等，掌握相關(guān)知識(shí)已成為從事未來(lái)科學(xué)研究、工程應(yīng)用的有力工具。在本次合作交流活動(dòng)中，Pelckmans博士將開(kāi)展關(guān)于機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)概述的系列講座，并討論在實(shí)際領(lǐng)域中的應(yīng)用。
